3. 규정 변화

4년 전 2022시즌부터 지난 시즌인 2025시즌까지 이어진 규정과 작별하고 처음으로 맞이하는 새로운 규정 하의 첫 시즌이다. 한국 시간으로 2024년 6월 6일 오후 10시에 FIA에서 공식적으로 2026시즌 신규정을 발표하였으며, 당시 새로운 레이스 카의 무게, 드래그와 다운포스는 꽤나 감소될 것이라는 소식도 전해졌다. 에어로다이나믹은 기존의 아웃워시 컨셉에서 인워시 컨셉으로 바뀌었고, 전체적인 크기가 약간 감소했다. 다운포스만 직전 규정에 비해 약 33%나 감소하게 되었으며, DRS가 역사 속으로 사라지고[1] 프런트 윙과 리어 윙에 가변형 플랩이 설치되어 직선 주로, 코너에 맞게 자동으로 윙이 조정될 것이라 하였다.[2] 또한 온보드 카메라에 레이스 카의 상태를 나타내는 LED가 설치된다.

다만, 현재 발표된 규정은 아직 확정된 것이 아니기 때문에 추후 변경되는 부분이 있을 수 있다.[3]

[1] DRS는 드래그가 클수록 효율이 좋은데, 새로운 규정의 레이스 카는 드래그가 줄어들어서 효율이 나빠졌기 때문이라고 한다. [2] 이 외에도 프런트/리어 윙의 플랩이 각각 3개로 변경되었다. 추가로 프런트 윙은 2000년대 중후반처럼 가운데가 아래로 볼록하고 폭이 좁아졌으며, 리어 윙은 플랩과 곡선으로 일체화되었던 엔드플레이트가 다시 예전과 비슷하게 됐다. [3] 위의 랜더링도 마찬가지로 바뀔 수 있다.
