1. 개요
2000년 브로드웨이에서 초연된 뮤지컬 아이다의 넘버이다. 팀 라이스가 작사, 엘튼 존이 작곡했다.작중 라다메스의 누비아인 노예 메렙이 아이다가 누비아 왕의 딸인 것을 알아본다. 하지만 아이다는 메렙에게 나도 이제 너와 같은 노예일 뿐이라며 아무에게도 말하지 말고 비밀로 해달라고 이야기하는 곡이다. 이후 아이다는 누비아인들과 함께하기로 하고, 라다메스로부터 편지가 오자 메렙의 만류에도 작별인사를 하기 위해 라다메스를 찾아가기로 한다.
메렙이 그런 아이다의 모습을 보고 사랑 때문에 다른 모든 것을 제쳐두고 이기적으로 행동하는 것은 내가 아는 공주의 모습이 아니라고 말하는 장면에 반복되어(Reprise) 다시 한번 등장한다.
2. 제작
뮤지컬 삽입곡들 작업 기간인 1996년 작곡했다. 엘튼 존은 미국 조지아주 애틀랜타의 퍼플 드래곤 스튜디오에서 데모를 녹음했지만 발매하지 않았다.1999년 콘셉트 앨범 Elton John and Tim Rice's Aida에서는 미국의 포크 싱어송라이터이자 기타리스트 제임스 테일러가 불렀다. 미국 캘리포니아주 로스앤젤레스의 올라스 뮤직 스튜디오에서 녹음되었고 미국의 드러머이자 프로듀서 러셀 컨켈과 음향 기술자 나다니엘 컨켈 부자가 프로듀싱을 맡았다.[1]
2000년 브로드웨이 캐스트 레코딩 앨범에서는 메렙 역의 데미안 퍼킨스와 아이다 역의 헤더 헤들리가 노래를 불렀다.
